Avoid soy

My sister in law did some research on Soy Products this is what she Found:

Avoid soy.

Soy is the latest craze in health foods, but I recommend avoiding soy unless
it is fermented or sprouted. Most soy is not a health food! Although it has
many beneficial properties, it also has digestive enzyme inhibitors that
will impair your ability to break down protein. It also contains phytic
acid, which will bind minerals. Fermented soy (tempeh, natto and miso) and
soybean sprouts don't have these problems. You should avoid tofu, soy
protein products, soymilk and especially soy baby formula, which should
never be used for infants. (Besides Breast Is Best)

Please visit my <http://www.mercola.com/article/soy/index.htm> soy
information page for more details. At this level you should avoid all
non-fermented soy products. You can review the material on soy for further
details on why this food should be avoided unless fermented. If you use
protein powders, it's important to avoid soy protein.

So I'm curious, what does a lactose intolerant baby use if no soy formula?

Tara... I am with you. My husband was lactose intolerant... that means intolerant to breast milk too, and he was put on soy in 1978 and he turned out fine. My little boy and my best friends little boy is the same way and they are doing great on Soy. Connor is such a good little boy! If soy was so problematic to infants they would not be selling it anymore, and doctors would not recommend it... also think of it... wouldn't they be having all sorts of lawsuits against them?

The Alternative to Soy formula is Lactose free Formula. Trust ME it's out there.
The reason the research began is that they (docs and researchers)were finding coralations between Long Term use of Soy at high levels and Cancer, infertility, and Hypothyroidism.

intolerance to breast milk is not always lactose intolerance. most of the time intolerance to breast milk can be remedied with a change in mom's diet.
